Hello! I'm Beka
I am a Northeastern University alumna with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Since graduating, I've been working for TileDB, Inc. as a Software Engineer. I love learning new languages in my spare time - right now I'm learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Serbian! I also enjoy using my computer knowledge for other applications besides coding, such as photography and video editing. I'm passionate about helping others and hope to explore healthcare applications of Interactive Intelligence in a Master's program.

EXPERIENCE
January - June 2020
Engineering Contractor
MATRIXSPACE
This job was a part-time position during my final semester at Northeastern University. Most of my work was entirely confidential. I spent some time building and troubleshooting hardware issues with drones, documenting the process for future replication.
January - April 2019
Control and Diagnostic Systems Engineer
PRATT & WHITNEY
This was my second co-op, completed during the Spring of my Junior year. My project there was entirely classified, but I can say that I worked on a military engine. My main responsibility was testing and validating the code of others using a custom testing framework that I built.
January - June 2018
Software Engineer
DRAPER
This was my first co-op, completed during the Spring of my Sophomore year. I worked on the Dream Chaser, an autonomous spacecraft that will send cargo to the International Space Station. My main responsibility was to write unit tests to verify code. I also wrote Python scripts to send UDP commands up to the spacecraft. My final task was to convert unit tests to a new framework that was compatible with the flight computer and generate files from these tests with meaningful data from the computer itself.
June - August 2017
Heat Treatment Intern
OLYMPIC MANUFACTURING GROUP (OMG)
I worked in the section of this screw factory which provided heat and chemical treatment to all of the screws and fasteners as a final stage of manufacturing. I was in charge of the power management for this section of the factory. I tracked and analyzed the daily power usage and researched alternative power sources as a means of reducing costs.
EDUCATION
2016-2020
Bachelor's Degree
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY
I am graduating in May of 2020 with my Bachelor's of Science in Computer Engineering. While at Northeastern, I have had the opportunity to explore many different interests among my classes, projects, extracurricular activities, and co-op work experiences.
2012-2016
High School Diploma
LONGMEADOW HIGH SCHOOL
The local high school in my small hometown of Longmeadow, MA is where my love for computers began. I took a Java class in my Senior year and from there, I knew I wanted to be a coder!

EXPERTISE
C, C++
Most of my coding experience is in either C or C++. When working at Draper, I used a lot of C++ for my test scripts. A majority of my coding-heavy classes at Northeastern have primarily required the use of C for assignments and projects.
Linux
Coding classes at Northeastern often require the use of a Linux terminal for local source code control. This is often used in conjunction with Git to maintain version control.
Git
I use Github to track all of my personal projects. In industry, I have used Gitlab and Github for version control among a large team.
